Our Chicago energy audits include a complete visual inspection of the home, inspection of mechanical equipment, combustion safety testing and analysis, inspection of insulation, blower door testing and infrared imaging inspection performed by a Level 2 Certified Thermographer.
Our energy analyst will review your utility bills, conduct an interview with you to get a feel of your energy usage routine, and conduct a thorough visual and infrared inspection of your building envelope to better understand what options are available and the most efficient way for you to begin to reduce your utility bills and save money. You are encouraged to ask questions throughout the process and "see your energy losses" displayed on the infrared camera screen. We will break down your utility bills into two primary uses - base load (hot water, washer/dryer, refrigeration, TV, etc...) and seasonal load (heating and cooling). This is done to evaluate your energy usage and to determine where you can make changes to save money on your energy bills.
All of the information collected during our home energy audit is then compiled and evaluated utilizing state-of-the-art energy auditing software. Once the energy audit report is completed, we will review the findings with you and make recommendations for energy saving improvements. The following is a list and pricing for our services:
Comprehensive Diagnostic Energy Audit………..…… $535
This is one of the Chicago area's most popular audits, as it not only includes the Home Energy & Maintenance Assessment, (shown below) but also includes the Blower Door, Duct Blaster, and Worst Case CAZ tests. By performing these tests, we can help you not only identify the issues but help you find real solutions based on actual numbers. We will review all our results and findings with you at the time work is completed and you will receive a comprehensive report generally within 2 to 3 business days.
The Healthy Chicago Home Survey…………………….……….…. $675
The Healthy Chicago Home Survey includes everything in the Comprehensive Diagnostic Energy Audit, along with mold air sampling laboratory testing of three mold samples. As least one of the mold samples is taken from the HVAC system (filter or duct), while the other two are taken from typical or noted problem areas in the home.
Home Energy, Comfort & Maintenance Assessment...… $275
This walk through assessment of your Chicago home is designed to identify obvious energy loss and maintenance issues. This includes a visual inspection of the interior and exterior of the house, the basement, crawlspace, and attic. We visually check for improper sealing of ductwork, construction flaws, and window and door leaks. We will look at the condition of your major appliances, heating and cooling equipment, check for gas leaks, check the Carbon Monoxide levels in your Chicago home, and other health and safety issues.
During the assessment we will also sit down with you and review any concerns you may have, your energy bills, our findings, and also our proposed solutions if you want to correct your Chicago home energy audit issues, or hire a qualified contractor to improve your home energy deficiencies. A follow up report is sent to you within one to two business days including a copy of the solutions and any applicable pictures taken.
