Few, if any, Chicago area energy auditing providers have a Certified Level II Thermographer on staff.
When choosing an Energy Auditing provider, experience counts. No two houses are the same and it takes years of training, both on the job and continuing education to properly assess what's is going on in your home. What goes on in one part of your home, affects another part of your home.
Hiring an independent energy auditor, who does not gain financially from energy upgrades to your home, is key to getting the biggest "bang for your buck". An "energy auditor" that comes to your home and only does a visual assessment can no more properly assess your home, than a doctor can assess a broken bone without an x-ray. If Blower Door Testing along with an Infrared examination (Thermal Imaging) is not part of a comprehensive energy audit, it's not a complete energy audit.
